Snow Ban Begins 7am January 19th, 2025
ATTENTION – Due to the predicted snow event for Sunday, Mayor Joseph Palko, Jr., has announced that the snow parking ban will be placed into effect as of 7am on January 19, 2025.
Enforcement will NOT officially begin until snow is falling, and the plow crews are incoming, BUT…please make all efforts to follow the restrictions early enough to avoid somehow forgetting to move your vehicle.
As per ordinance Chapter 15, Section 9, subsection 904(b), there will be NO PARKING on the ODD SIDE of any street within the Borough during an announced snow ban. After 8am on the day FOLLOWING the date of the storm AND AFTER snow removal/salting operations are complete on the odd side, parking is PROHIBITED on the EVEN SIDE of the streets until snow removal operations have been completed and the ban is cancelled. This is referred to as the REVERSE SNOW BAN, and we generally announce when the streets crew is ready to clear the opposite side.
***Officers WILL be patrolling and enforcing the ordinance. This is necessary to allow the Streets Department to effectively remove the accumulations of snow being predicted in order to keep the roadways sufficiently cleared. This allows for the safe passage of emergency vehicles and those needing to be on the roads.***
Be aware that on those streets prohibiting parking on a specific side, the snow ban restriction takes priority over the typical “No Parking” restriction – HOWEVER – we ask that once plowing is complete on the non-restricted side, vehicle owners promptly return their vehicles back to the proper side of the street to prevent parking on both sides of those already narrow streets. If your schedule is such that you would be unsure if you would be available to move your vehicle back to the proper side, please consider a different arrangement to be sure that the street can be cleared of snow and that you save yourself from receiving a ticket or being towed.
Also remember that this ordinance is enforced BOROUGH WIDE, regardless of whether the street is a borough street or a state highway. Thank you all in advance for your anticipated cooperation in these efforts. Let’s try to make this the winter with the fewest snow ban related parking violations.
