Remembering Mayor Joseph Palko Jr.: A Dedicated Leader, Volunteer, and Friend to Freeland

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Freeland Borough Mayor Joseph Palko Jr., who left us yesterday afternoon. A devoted public servant, a dedicated volunteer, and a beloved member of our community, Mayor Palko’s presence will be profoundly missed.
Before becoming mayor, he served on Freeland Borough Council, always working for the best interests of the town. He was also a proud volunteer with the Freeland Northside Community Ambulance Association serving as its president, giving his time and energy to help those in need. He was a constant and unwavering supporter of every organization and event in Freeland, always showing up to stand beside his fellow residents.
Beyond his public service, Mayor Palko was a man of deep passions. He loved his family dearly, cherished the companionship of his dogs, found joy in the music of the Grateful Dead, and had an abiding love for the borough he called home. His kindness, dedication, and quiet leadership will leave a lasting mark on our community.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Details regarding memorial services will be shared as they become available. Mayor Palko’s legacy of service, love, and community spirit will not be forgotten.
