PAMS, the billing company for Freeland Borough’s Storm Water and Solid Waste services, has sent out the first bill for garbage services. This week, the Department of Public Works (DPW) has been actively engaged in the cleanup of multiple neglected properties throughout the Borough. These efforts are part of our continued commitment to improving community safety, public health, and overall neighborhood appearance.
As we move forward, the Borough will remain proactive and persistent in addressing blighted conditions. However, it is important to note that such work entails real and recurring costs—including personnel hours, equipment wear and tear, fuel, and other consumables.
Borough Council is committed to ensuring that the financial burden of these cleanups is not borne by taxpayers, but rather by the responsible property owners. Accordingly, the full cost of each cleanup will be billed to and recoverable from the owner(s) of the affected properties in accordance with Borough Code and applicable ordinances.
We appreciate the community’s continued support and vigilance. In the coming weeks, residents can expect additional announcements as Council explores enhanced measures to strengthen enforcement and improve the Borough’s ability to address vacant, abandoned, and blighted properties.
