Freeland Borough Awarded $68,255 for Public Park Safety Enhancements

Freeland Borough is excited to announce that we have been awarded a $68,255 grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority through the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development. This funding will support critical safety improvements at Freeland Public Park, ensuring a safer and more welcoming environment for our residents and visitors.

Project Highlights:

New Chain-Link Fencing – Installation of 686 feet of 4′ fencing with (2) 4’ gates and (1) double gate to enhance security.
Playground Safety Upgrades – Addition of 1,000 square yards of geotextile fabric and certified wood mulch for improved safety.
Erosion & Sedimentation Controls – Implementation of compost filter sock barriers and concrete washout areas to protect the park’s natural landscape.
Lawn Restoration & Landscaping – Topsoil, seeding, and straw placement to maintain green space aesthetics.

The revised total project cost is $80,308, with the awarded funds covering a significant portion of these essential upgrades and the Freeland YMCA covering the remaining costs. These enhancements will improve the park’s infrastructure, ensuring it remains a safe and enjoyable space for families, children, and community members.

We extend our gratitude to the Commonwealth Financing Authority and PA DCED for their continued investment in Freeland Borough. We also thank our local leaders, the Freeland YMCA, and community partners for their support in making this project possible.

Stay tuned for updates as we move forward with these improvements!
